Hello CV Locals, happy Thursday!

Are we wearing our Deet? We sincerely hope none of you have contracted West Nile since our last issue. There are quite enough bugs going around as it is, and just in time for everyone to cram inside the same Pumpkin Patch. We have finally hit Mid October and venues are finally committing to bonafide high season events.

If you are new here, The CV Scene delivers just the right amount of news and events for locals of Coachella Valley. No crime, no politics, no spam—just the good stuff. We scan newspapers, blogs, social media, business journals, and Google alerts so you don’t have to.

  • Bosoms and Brews Fundraiser

  • La Quinta Fall Fest

The Gloves Are Coming Off at Acrisure

We just hope both teams have fun…

“So, it’s not UFC…?” read the comment of one fan under a post by the Acrisure Arena announcing that bare knuckle fighting was coming to the venue. But this might be better than UFC: No gloves. No frills. Maximum drama. The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) is making its Acrisure Arena debut on Saturday, November 15, bringing a first-of-its-kind fight night to the Coachella Valley. Headlining BKFC 84: Palm Desert is a can’t-miss clash between local favorite Josh “D-Day” Dyer, the BKFC light heavyweight champ, and savage finisher David “The Redneck” Mundell, the BKFC middleweight world champion—two titleholders finally getting the showdown they’ve both wanted. Doors open in the evening, with BKFC listing a 6:00 PM PT start and a televised main card block later in the night.

If you’re new to bare-knuckle: fighters compete without gloves (hands are wrapped but the knuckles are bare), which makes bouts faster, tighter, and often more decisive. Rounds are two minutes, most fights are five rounds, and BKFC’s small “Squared Circle” ring forces action—so you get more exchanges and fewer slow dances. It’s intense, yes, but BKFC and some ringside doctors argue the shorter fights and fewer total head strikes may reduce concussion risk versus traditional gloved boxing.

Need-to-know: The event is billed as BKFC 84: Dyer vs. Mundell at Acrisure Arena, 75702 Varner Rd., Palm Desert. Tickets are listed via major outlets for Nov. 15; keep an eye on the arena and BKFC pages for on-sale and broadcast details. This is BKFC’s first show ever at Acrisure Arena—and it’s positioned as a big local moment for a sport exploding nationwide.
