Hello CV Locals, happy Thursday!
Well just like that, we are in mid-September. We are descending (slowly) into cooler days, with monsoonal rain having a fighting chance in the week’s forecast. The valley is opening up, and we are doing a neighbor poll: is it too early to break out the 26ft skeletons?
If you are new here, The CV Scene delivers just the right amount of news and events for locals of Coachella Valley. No crime, no politics, no spam—just the good stuff. We scan newspapers, blogs, social media, business journals, and Google alerts so you don’t have to.

Indoor Golf is Here to Stay

What if your watch-the-game spot let you actually be in the game? La Quinta’s new Golf Bar makes that the whole point. Tucked into the Komar Desert Center near Hwy 111 and Jefferson, it’s the Coachella Valley’s first hangout built around high-def golf simulators—giant screens you can smack a real ball into. And it’s not just golf: seven bays run a dozen different games, from football and baseball to soccer, cricket, and even Skee-Ball. You can chase birdies on famous courses or go full novelty mode on a pirate ship or a sci-fi track. It’s easygoing and inclusive—scratch players get their reps in, first-timers get to try without the pressure—and the kitchen’s doing more than freezer fare, with crunchy garlic wings, nachos, a chicken-bacon-ranch melt, a garlic-herb quinoa bowl, and pizzas with on-theme names like the Texas Wedge and Buffalo Birdie.
Pricing is straightforward: bays start at $35 for 30 minutes, with walk-ins welcome and reservations accepted. A complimentary 7-iron is on hand, but golfers can bring their own sticks or rent a full Callaway set for $10; non-golf games include the balls you’ll need. If you’re curious what a sports bar looks like when you’re the one taking the swing, this is it.

A little something for everyone (though if you don’t know who anyone on that list is you’re in good company)
