Hello CV Locals, happy Thursday!
We regret to inform you that tomorrow is Halloween Time flies when your having fun standing in line (again) for the halloween themed mini totes at Trader Joes. You have been waiting patiently for everyone to fully open back up, the weather to cool down and for the construction on HWY 111 to be done. The only bad thing is this: so was everyone else. From now until May the valley will be inundated with tourists, festival kids, snowbirds, and people from LA who want to be aloof and condescending somewhere sunny.
If you are new here, The CV Scene delivers just the right amount of news and events for locals of Coachella Valley. No crime, no politics, no spam—just the good stuff. We scan newspapers, blogs, social media, business journals, and Google alerts so you don’t have to.

Rabid Bats in Riverside County “almost always fatal”
Halloween Activities
Updated Plan Ahead for November

Riverside County Bats Test Positive for Rabies
Heads-up from Riverside County health officials: they’re seeing more rabies-positive bats this year — 18 so far, compared to 15 all of last year — and they really don’t want people touching or rescuing them.
Why it matters: rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms start, and bat bites can be tiny or painless. County health officer Dr. Jennifer Chevinsky says if you wake up and there was a bat in your room, or you think you (or your pet) got nipped, don’t wait — call your doctor or ER right away. In California, bats are the main carriers of rabies, so the rule is simple: don’t handle them, don’t let kids handle them, and keep pets vaxxed.
