We made it to October, gang. Spooky Season. Oktoberfest. (Almost) sweater weather. We have been leading up to the high season in the desert and it is finally here. Lots to do, see and eat this week and coming up with venues opening up all up and down the valley from their Summer Hiatus.

Downtown Indio is getting a fresh stage: The Desert Rat is taking over the Miles & Oasis corner where Little Street Music Hall once lived. By day, think Brooklyn-style soda fountain and kettle-boiled bagels; by night, an intimate room for live music—locals to touring acts—with film nights, open mics, and family-friendly events in the mix. The project comes from audio vet Ron Mesh (FFC Touring), and it’s part of the broader downtown lift alongside the new library, city hall, and a wave of indie openings. Short version: coffeehouse vibes by morning, showtime by evening—another reason to wander Miles Avenue after dark.
