Hello CV Locals, happy Thursday!

With that February is coming to a close, with the Season in full swing. Did we survive the wind yesterday? Wind gusts of up to 70 mph nearly blew the Modernism right out of the week. As we get deeper into the cooler months, there are new businesses opening up all over the valley to feed and libate the hoards of snowbirds that roost here during the spring. God bless em. For the full timers, it’s time to enjoy a cool breezy week in the best desert in the West.

If you are new here, The CV Scene delivers just the right amount of news and events for locals of Coachella Valley. No crime, no politics, no spam—just the good stuff. We scan newspapers, blogs, social media, business journals, and Google alerts so you don’t have to.

Vintage Trailer Show @ Modernism Week Brings Back the Classics

Let me guess…“not for sale” :(

If you love chrome, curves and a little midcentury wanderlust, this is your stop. One of the marquee events of Modernism Week’s second weekend, the Vintage Trailer Show brings a jaw-dropping lineup of restored campers, Airstreams, buses and motorhomes to Palm Springs — widely considered one of the biggest and best gatherings of its kind in the country. Owners and restoration pros will be onsite both days to swap stories about cross-country road trips and painstaking rebuilds, and there’s a lineup of vendors geared toward the retro-road life. Saturday guests can even cast a ballot for the coveted People’s Choice Award. It’s pure desert nostalgia on wheels — polished, playful and ready for its close-up. 🚐

Palm Springs International Jazz Festival swings back this week (Feb 19–22)

Stanley Clarke with N 4Ever

One of the desert’s coolest music weekends is happening now in downtown Palm Springs, bringing a star-studded jazz lineup to life across two classic venues, the Annenberg Theatre and the Plaza Theatre. 🇺🇸🎷 Over four days you can catch everything from pianist/storyteller Ben Sidran and jazz legend Stanley Clarke to Brazilian great Eliane Elias, New Orleans icons Preservation Hall Jazz Band, powerhouse vocalist Lisa Fischer, and forward-thinking bassist/artist esperanza spalding. 🎶 There’s also a swanky Sunset Jazz Party in a midcentury architectural gem kicking things off. It’s a rich mix of international rhythms, timeless tradition and modern sounds set against the desert’s iconic skyline — perfect if you’re up for a weekend getaway filled with world-class music.

Here’s an un-boring way to invest that billionaires have quietly leveraged for decades

If you have enough money that you think about buckets for your capital…

Ever invest in something you know will have low returns—just for the sake of diversifying?

CDs… Bonds… REITs… :(

Sure, these “boring” investments have some merits. But you probably overlooked one historically exclusive asset class:

It’s been famously leveraged by billionaires like Bezos and Gates, but just never been widely accessible until now.

It outpaced the S&P 500 (!) overall WITH low correlation to stocks, 1995 to 2025.*

It’s not private equity or real estate. Surprisingly, it’s postwar and contemporary art.

And since 2019, over 70,000 people have started investing in SHARES of artworks featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso through a platform called Masterworks.

  • 23 exits to date

  • $1,245,000,000+ invested

  • Annualized net returns like 17.6%, 17.8%, and 21.5%

My subscribers can SKIP their waitlist and invest in blue-chip art.

Investing involves risk. Past performance not indicative of future returns. Reg A disclosures at masterworks.com/cd
